Authorities
Puzzled as Freak Fire Destroys
Evidence in JHL Trial
TEXAS, September 24
/PRNewswire/ -- Both sides in the JHL vs IRU trial are puzzled by
what appears to be a completely devistating fire in the evidence room
of the Houston municipal court. The blaze was discovered when a custodian
smelled smoke in the hallway two floors above. It
took firefighters over three hours to contain the fire. Investigators
have started sifting through the remains.
"This has us
completely baffled. We are trying to determine how the fire started,
but it's difficult since the fire burned so hot for so long. There's
nothing left, but four charred concrete walls. It's really strange.",
stated Chief Investigator William Skyles of the Houston Fire Department.
"The sprinkler system failed to trigger, the alarms didn't go
off, and the heat apparently destroyed all of the security cameras.
It could take a long time to figure this one out."
All of the evidence that had been compiled
in the IRU vs JHL case has been completely destroyed. "This is
a setback for us, obviously, but we have copies of most of it and
we should be back on track for Monday.", claimed IRU legal representative
Gary Keller. "Something smells fishy about this, but we made
contingency plans for just such an event. We will proceed as planned."
JHL CEO Greg Major declined to comment.
